Teacher Mama

source
If you are a teacher of young children, you understand this.  But in all reality, you also understand that this is totally true. Inside my classroom, I am their Teacher Mama.

Just this week, I had a little girl walk over as I was giving my son a good bye hug say, "I wish I was your girl."  I told her that she already was. Each year, I am entrusted to care and mentor 20 or so children. Every year is a bit different.  But one thing remains the same, I love the students I teach and only want the best for them.  I want them to succeed in school but more importantly, in life.

  1. Thanks for the sweet message. We are their mama, their friend, their counselor, and so on, and so on. My students have called me "mom" (or "dad!" once) so many times, I have a running joke with them: "You can call me mom, or you can call me dad, but just don't call me grandma! :)

  2. I get called grandma now by accident rather than mom. Oh well, both are an honor! I love them all as my very own and hope and wish for all their dreams to come true. I watch from a distance as they grow into a young adult and will always be one of their biggest fans. I am now teaching my children's children!! I'm definitely grandma material!! Agree with your post!

  5. I don't have children and therefore those I teach are my children. I love my first grade children!
